The optimal composition of the solution for fighting Escherichia coli in the stomach with the addition of glycerin and 3% alcohol

Objective:

  • Eradication of E. coli in the stomach
  • Reducing mucosal irritation
  • Increase the bioavailability of active ingredients

1. Solution components

Methylene blue-OH (MB-OH, 0.1-0.5%)

  • Antibacterial effect: destroys the respiratory chain of E. coli.
  • Penetrates bacterial biofilms.
  • Photosensitizer for possible PDT.

Genzian violet (Crystal Violet, 0.05-0.1%)

  • Additional bactericidal effect.
  • Kills gram-negative bacteria.
  • Disrupts the DNA of bacteria.

Curcumin (0.2-0.5%)

  • A natural antibacterial agent.
  • Antioxidant, helps to heal the mucosa.
  • It works better with ethanol.

Eosin Y (0.05-0.1%)

  • Helps to destroy bacterial membranes.
  • Fluorescent marker (can be used in research).

Glycerin (10-15%)

  • Protects the mucous membrane.
  • Improves the solubility and stability of MB-OH and curcumin.
  • Extends the contact of the solution with bacteria.

3% alcohol solution (C₂H₅OH, balance up to 100%)

  • Increases the permeability of MB-OH and Genzianviolet.
  • Destroys bacterial biofilms.
  • Improves the absorption of curcumin.

2. Properties of the resulting solution

📌 Antibacterial activity – the combined effect of MB-OH, Genzianviolet and curcumin.
📌 Penetration through biofilms – ethanol and Eosin Y help to destroy the defense of bacteria.
📌 Mucosal protection – glycerin minimizes irritation.
📌 Increased stability – thanks to the alcohol solution and glycerin.
📌 Can be used in photodynamic therapy (PDT) – activated by light at 660-700 nm.

3. Conclusions

The resulting solution is optimal for fighting E. coli in the stomach.
The combination of antimicrobial dyes, alcohol and glycerin allows for effective penetration of bacterial colonies and biofilms.
The solution can be used as a stand-alone agent or in combination with PDT.
It can be used for efficacy studies in the laboratory.
